Are 'Black Lives' Being Taken for a Ride?

By Rob Tenery, MD on March 30, 2016

Several of the major television networks rushed to blame Donald Trump’s inflammatory rhetoric for the protests that took place at his planned Chicago rally on March 11.  A closer look revels that plans to protest his rally were started when a group of black, Muslim and Latino activists heard about the upcoming event, and added their names to a MoveOn.org petition to cancel Trump’s event. This organization and the Black Lives Matter movement are both partially funded by the billionaire agitator, George Soros, who was Nazi collaborator when he was 13. These groups have also created disruptions at rallies for Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton.  Also identified at the cancelled Chicago event was Obama confidant and former domestic terrorist Bill Ayers.

In the first Democratic presidential debate, the most important question that could have defined the dialogue was ‘do black lives matter’. Needing President Obama’s blessing and the support of his following in the black community for the upcoming election, the candidates acquiesced by giving the politically correct answer, ‘Yes, black lives matter’.

That wasn’t the answer candidate Martin O’Malley gave when the same question was posed to him several months ago.  Not having confronted the question before, his response 'all lives matter' was shouted down by a group that was in attendance. Several participants who were part of the Black Lives Matter movement shouted another Democratic candidate for President, Bernie Sanders, off his podium.

The answer to the real question raised by the Black Lives Matter movement goes much deeper. The problems originate in a breakdown of the family unit, where 72% of black children are born into a single parent unit. Many have little or no authority in the home, because the single parent is forced to work and the unattended children are left to fend for themselves.  Their educational opportunities mainstream every student then pass these children to a higher level until they fail, instead of selectively pointing them toward careers that are more likely for them to succeed. Add in the entitlement programs that encourage dependency. Finally, no one is required to participate in any mandated service such as the draft to instill appreciation of the sacrifices of our forefathers that made their opportunities possible. This stifling environment breeds failure for the downtrodden.

The Black Lives Matter movement began in July 2013 after George Zimmerman was acquitted for the Florida shooting of the African-American teen, Trayvon Martin. The movement gained a larger presence following the deaths of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, and Eric Garner in New York City. In any of these cases, the grand juries did not indict the officers that were involved. The movement then gained further prominence by the death of Freddy Gray, whose death sparked the 2015 Baltimore riots.

As the frustration within the black community grew, the target of their anger was directed at the local police authorities in selected cities.  This anger culminated in August, at the Minnesota state fair, when protesters from the Black Lives Matter movement marched while chanting the anti-police rhetoric, “Pigs in a blanket, fry ’em like bacon.” The inflammatory nature of the protests took the discourse to a higher level. Although the leadership of the movement, black activists, Alicia Garza, Patrisse Cullors and Opal Tometi disagreed, many in the media felt those chants inflamed an already troubled community.

The scattered protestors around the country that have now appeared on several college campuses have been referred to as the ‘tantrum’ generation--- crying and protesting about injustices that either occurred a long time ago or didn’t really happen as first thought. Similar to Ferguson and Baltimore, the protesters are not just black and they are not just students. Also, many familiar faces seem to show up to protest at different locations. Commentator Bill O’Reilly reports he has learned that the protests in New York City were organized by professionals called, This Stops Today. Three additional groups, Hoodies for Justice, Communities United for Police Reform, and Service Employers International Union (SEIU) were also implicated.

A recent headline in the Washington Times read, George Soros Funds Ferguson Protests, Hopes to Spur Civil Action. George Soros underwrites the organization, Open Society Foundations (OSF), that appears to do his bidding. Listed in a Snopes article, under the initiatives of the OSF is “$1.4 billion to promote reform in the United States on issues such as criminal justice, drugs, palliative care, education, immigration, equal rights, and democratic governance”. Specifically, it has been reported in the tax filings of the OSF that Mr. Soros gave at least $33 million in one year to support the already-established groups that were part of the protests at Ferguson.

Although, President Obama did not comment directly on the protests, he shared his feelings back in 2008 by stating, "We do not need to recite here the history of racial injustice in this country. But we do need to remind ourselves that so many of the disparities that exist in the African American community today can be directly traced to inequalities passed on from an earlier generation that suffered under the brutal legacy of slavery and Jim Crow."

The question the leaders of the Black Lives Matter movement want answered is do black lives matter less--- less than lives in the white population. It is a legitimate question that might have been answered differently prior to the 1960s. If the election of Barack Obama and his re-election demonstrate anything, it proves that the color of one’s skin is not a differentiating factor when it comes to the value of a human life.

The Black Lives Matter movement would claim that social unrest is targeted to ameliorate injustices that foster bigotry between the races. Why then pit the black community against the local law enforcement--- the very population that lays their lives on the line to protect the black community, often from itself and the gangs that are wrecking havoc in the poor neighborhoods, such as in Chicago?

According to the Center on Juvenile and Criminal Justice (CJCJ), African Americans are victims in 26 percent of police shootings, even though they comprise only 13% of the population. But paired with the 2011 statics from the FBI showing that 49.7% of the murder and non-negligent manslaughter cases in this country are by blacks, the increased incidence of police shootings is easily explained. Since many of the incidents that started this Black Lives Matter movement, turned out not to be as first reported, who or what entity benefits by promoting the continuation of this unrest? Although there are exceptions, it doesn’t seem to be the black community! Couldn’t it be that they are being ‘taken for a ride’?

There appears to be a common link between President Obama, Hillary Clinton, the Chicago protests by MoveOn.org, the Black Lives Matter movement, the riots in Ferguson, Baltimore and the recent appearance by Bill Ayers. Disturbingly, that connection is the progressive activist George Soros--- the man who is known for ‘breaking the bank of England’ and openly advocating for ‘one world socialist control.’ Those who think this is just about threats to the first amendment and police discrimination toward the black community is not looking at reality. And they better wake up, before it is too late!
