The senior anchor for Univision, Jorge Ramos, declared on February 24th that the United States belonged to Latino migrants. Univision is an American Spanish language broadcast television network. The network's programming is aimed at Latino Americans. It is available on cable and satellite television throughout most of the United States.
Jorge Gilberto Ramos Ávalos was born March 16, 1958 in Mexico City. Since 1986, Ramos has been the anchorman for Noticiero Univision, a nightly Spanish language newscast. Currently, he also hosts Al Punto, a Spanish-language Sunday public affairs program aired weekly on Univision. Ramos earned a master's degree in international studies at the University of Miami in Miami, Florida. In 2008, Ramos became a United States citizen.
Reported on Breitbart on February 27th by Katie Mchugh, Ramos explains that mass immigration, particularly illegal population, was a fait accompli. “There is nothing the U.S. can do about it, and they must accept that America is not their country,” he quoted.
Ramos, in the February 24th speech, during Premios Lo Nuestro, or Our Awards, on Univision said, “I am an immigrant, just like many of you. I am a proud Latino immigrant here in the United States. And you know exactly what is going on here in the United States. There are many people who do not want us to be here, and who want to create a wall in order to separate us. So when they attack us, we already know what we are going to do. We are not going to sit down. We will not shut up. And we will not leave. That is what we are going to do. But you know what? This is also our country. Let me repeat this: Our country, not theirs. It is our country. And we are not going to leave. We are nearly 60 million Latinos in the United States,” Ramos continued. “And thanks to us, the United States eats, grows and, as we’ve seen today, sings and dances.”
Except for the first homo sapiens, who arose out of what would be Africa 200,000 years ago, we and all our ancestors who came before us are immigrants. The difference today is that without borders there is anarchy. The author
“I don’t see why we can’t have in North America the same immigration that they have within the European Union,” Ramos said to Time Magazine in 2014. In a CNN interview in August 2015, he thought that the U.S. should not enforce its immigration laws, even after illegal aliens kill Americans. In August 2015, reported by Tony Lee on Breitbart that the proposed legislation, Ramos said, Kate’s Law was “completely unfair to millions of illegal immigrants.” This proposed legislation would require deported illegal immigrants who are caught re-entering the country to be sentenced to a mandatory five-year federal prison term if they had a prior felony conviction.
Many consider Jorge Ramos the leading spokesman for the millions of Latinos in this country. Unfortunately, Mr. Ramos has difficulty differentiating legal Latinos who are already citizens from illegal immigrants who are already violating federal law by just being here. He seems to lump them all together which is in total contrast to his native country of Mexico, where the laws concerning non-citizens are much stricter than here in the United States.
In 2015, the Latino population had reached 57 million and is growing at a rate of 2.8%, which has decreased from an average of 4.4% from 2000 to 2007. This amounts to almost 29% of the total U. S. population of which between 10-15% are illegal. As a group, the majority vote Democratic: 65% for Hillary Clinton in this most recent election and in the 2012 presidential election 71% for Barack Obama. As their numbers grow, so does their influence in the state and national elections.
For the first time, the Trump administration is trying to tackle the multifaceted problems of control of our southern border, convicted illegal immigrant felons, immigrants who overstay their visas, sanctuary cities, repeat felons who gain reentry, the Latino gang influence and an epidemic of drugs that come into this country through Mexico.
Mr. Ramos could better serve his newly adopted country and the Latino community he claims to represent, if he would realize the importance of stemming the flow of uninvited aliens, which in many ways disadvantage those Latinos who are already here legally. Although he speaks their language, he doesn’t appear to be speaking to their needs!
